Van Nuys, The New Town, Metro-Orange Line, Van Nuys Station, Van Nuys, California.
The concept for the Van Nuys Station was to examine the community from it’s beginnings to 2005. The production of organs for silent movie theaters was once one of the major industries in Van Nuys. The Morgan Pipe Organ factory site was less than 1/2 of a mile from the station. I used sheet music and music notes to represent the organ music industry. The green and brown colors within the bars and staves represent the wheat and sugar beet fields that existed prior to the subdivision of Van Nuys. The road down center of the terrazzo represents Van Nuys Blvd.
